No one likes a cheater, but when a game deliberately tries to make you fail, there are no other options. Many games have built in cheats, which are activated with specific codes, but other ones do not include such features, forcing you to play by the rules. If there is no obvious way of bending the rules in your game, the only solution is to manipulate its files and Cheat Engine will make this much easier.

The application's setup file is roughly 7 MB large and you will not encounter any difficulties when installing. The Windows version on which you play your games does not matter. The application is compatible with most versions and it uses very little resources.

If you run Cheat Engine for the first time, the interface and its functions may intimidate you. The good news is that a tutorial is available and it will provide you with step by step instructions. Even if you encounter various HEX values, it is not difficult to adjust important parameters in your game, like your remaining life or money.

The idea behind Cheat Engine is simple. It must perform two scans to find a specific value in your game. You will have to provide the value yourself. After the first scan, you need to modify the value in your game, insert it and scan again. Before scanning, you have to run the game and select its .exe file with Cheat Engine. Instead of browsing for the file, you will have to select it from a list of processes.

This example should help you better understand how this application works. If you want more in-game money, you need to specify your current sum on Cheat Engine's interface and scan. The software will find and list numerous addresses which have the same values as your current amount of money. The next step is to narrow down the address you need. After spending some money, you must insert your new sum and scan again. Cheat Engine will filter all addresses, to show nothing but values changed from the first number to the second.

The result will be a single address, which represents your sum of money in the game. You can right click the address and select an option to change the value. This is where you can type in new sums of money. When you are done, you just need to click the Save option, resume the game and you will instantly find your sum of undeserved money. After the second scan, you may encounter more than one address, due to coincidence, but the chances are quite low. This is why it is recommended that you do not work with round numbers.

There are other cheating methods as well. For example, you can start with an unknown initial value. The application makes it possible to change any value in your game. If you want to make your game easier or harder, you may change your maximum health to a lower or higher number. The software lets you insert addresses manually and select different scan types for exact values, larger or smaller than your number, values between two numbers and more. The best part is that Cheat Engine's tutorial offers instructions for various methods and you can actually test them during this tutorial.

Pros

Cheat Engine enables you to cheat in any single player game. It makes it easy to find a specific address and change its value. Moreover, a step by step tutorial is available, which makes the software easier to understand. The interface contains various options, which can be used by advanced users or beginners.

Cons

When installing Cheat Engine, you may need to disable your antivirus program, to avoid false positives. Cheat Engine allows you to modify the rules in any single player game. The smart design of its interface and its well structured tutorial enables you to perform advanced tasks, while using a series of easy to understand tools.
